7th of April 1880 - Count Bernardo Blumenstihl, Commendatore Alessandri
Centurini and the engineer Angelo Filonardi established Società Italiana
per Condotte d'Acqua S.p.A. with the aim to "supply water for municipal, agricultural
and industrial uses".
13th of June 1880 - Condotte venture officially began with
the signature of King Umberto I. For the first decades Condotte activities
were carried out mainly overseas (Europe, Russia, Siam, China). Upon its 25th anniversary,
the company could boast to have designed several hundred waterworks and built 160
of them, for a total of 817 kilometres of water mains. During and after World War
II the company activities extended to several general construction sectors. In these
years the company built projects some of which have turned into milestones in the
history of public works: the construction of the Monte Bianco tunnel, the relocation
of Philae Templi (Egypt), the Bandar Abbas seaport (Iran) and many others.
1997 - after the privatization of Gruppo IRI companies, Società
Italiana per Condotte d'Acqua S.p.A. entered Ferfina Group, which at
that time was composed of:
- Ferrocemento Costruzioni e Lavori Pubblici S.p.A. (Genoa, 1932)
engaged in the construction of tunnels, hydraulic works owning a high level of specialisation.
- Scarparo Costruzioni S.p.A. (Padua, 1950)
operating at first in the mining sector then focused on the development of hydraulic
works, road and highway construction.
- Recchi Costruzioni Generali S.p.A. (Turin, 1933)
top player at national and international level thanks to the beauty and complexity
of its works, in particular railway bridges and hydroelectric plants.
- Gambogi S.p.A. (Pisa, 1912)
significant player in the nation's development through the construction of industrial
plants, dams, bridges, railways and highways.
1999 - Group’s companies merged, keeping the name of the most ancient
and prestigious among them, Società Italiana per Condotte d’Acqua. Thanks to the
fusion the company has been able to capitalize the experience and gain operational
capacity and complex technical equipments.
Today - Condotte d'Acqua is among the first general contractors
in Italy and is able to carry out important turn-key projects
and to operate in the project financing field. Acknowledged
as a reliable player operating in Europe, North Africa, Middle East
and U.S.A. in all sectors of public works, it features a unique
experience, lasting almost 130 years, in planning and constructing road, maritime
and hydraulic works, buildings and restorations.

by building roadwork and railways works such as: bridges, tunnels,
viaducts, highways, undergrounds, light railway, long distance railway, railway
stations and deposits.
- the company has moreover planned and constructed hydraulic works
such as dams, canals, mains for civil, agricultural and industrial use, and
maritime works, i.e. large civil and industrial harbours, docks, breakwaters
and coast barriers, owning among some of the most important, in size and kind, working
machines taskforce.
- in the course of years Condotte d'Acqua has developed real estate and industrial
projects some of which have marked the Italiy's social and economic life.
Residential complex, industrial plants, hotels, hospitals and universities have
been built up through all phases, from the planning to the delivery of turnkeys
projects, meeting both clients and final users needs.
- from the restoration of the historical palaces of Venice to the works on Ostia excavations,
from the Roman Forum to the Vatican Museums, up to the rescue of the Egyptian temple
and monuments on the Philae Island, Condotte commitment towards the society and
the national cultural heritage has been shown by constant restoration and preservation
activities, carried out with highly technological methods and often
extraordinary techniques.
